Erik's Do What You Please Hummus

Submitted by: http://ewollschlager.blogspot.com/

Description:

I usually make it with extra garlic, so if you're not a fan, feel free to cut back.  Also, as is with any recipe I post, I completely made this up, so bear that in mind when you try it for the first time.

Servings: 6-8?

Categories: dip, easy

Ingredients

1 16 oz can chick peas (garbanzo beans)

4 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp lemon juice

2 tbsp tahini (like peanut butter, but made with sesame seeds)

3 cloves garlic (chopped)

1/2 medium onion (chopped)

1 tsp rosemary

1 pinch cayenne pepper  (add more for more spice (obviously))

1 pinch basil

1 pinch oregano

Directions

I usually start with the liquids, herbs, and veggies, grinding that into a good paste in the food processor.  Add the tahini and grind again, then add the beans, grind until smooth.

Our version is usually more thick than what is sold in stores.  My very uneducated guess is they add more oil, feel free to do so if you prefer it a little more saucy than paste-y.

It's a recipe that's really open to personal taste, herbs you prefer, veggies you prefer, etc.  I've done roasted red peppers, it ended up delicious.  I've also tried the same ingredients with different beans, which adds a different twist.

Hope this works for you!  ENJOY!
