Ingredients
12 c old fashioned and/or rolled oats
2 c coconut
1 1/2 c wheat germ (look in baking or cereal section)
2 c bran (look in baking or cereal section, or use All Bran cereal)
2 c sunflower seeds, shelled, preferably unsalted
- More expensive, but very good - use part sesame seeds
2 c nuts (mixed, walnuts, peanuts - dry roasted)
3 tsp cinnamon
STICKY GROUP:
1 c oil, canola or sunflower
1 c honey
3/4 c molasses
Directions
Mix together ingredients in the Sticky Group.
Mix remaining ingredients in a large bowl.
Pour sticky mixture over dry mixture. Stir until well coated.
Spread mixture in a thin layer on greased cookie sheets. You'll probably have to do the toasting in multiple batches.
Bake at 300 for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
For crunchier texture, bake slightly longer.
Repeat procedure until all the mixture has been toasted.
Let cool completely.
Add any chopped dried fruit desired - raisins, apricots, cherries, etc. Carob or chocolate chips are also good.
