Fried Okra

Goes great as a side dish with Blackened Catfish and fresh watermelon.

Serve okra with Remoulade Sauce.

I found this recipe somewhere online.


1 lb okra, cut into 1/4" slices

2 c. corn oil


Group A

1 1/2 c. flour

1 tsp. cumin

1 tsp. black pepper

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1/2 tsp. paprika

2 tsp. chili powder

1/2 tsp. salt

Group B

1 egg, lightly mixed


Heat oil in a deep pan on the stovetop.

Mix together Group A in one bowl and Group B in another.

Dredge okra in the flour mixture (A) and then in the egg mixture (B) and then in the flour mixture (A) again.

Fry in hot oil until golden - do in batches if necessary.
